We are sad to report that after 7 years, Mary’s Kitchen, located on the corner of Airport Road and Hwy. 98, in Destin, has closed. The closing was sudden. It is rumored that there was little to no notice from the landlord to vacate with no extension on the lease.
Mary’s Kitchen opened 7 years ago in the former Destin Diner for breakfast and lunch. The diner was very popular with the locals. The food was good old down-home cooking. They offered daily specials along with the ‘pea of the day’ and “vegetable of the day”. Mary’s service and prices couldn’t be beaten.
At present, there is no information regarding a new tenant or what the plans are for the land. We hope that whatever the plans are, they will keep the look and feel of the old diner. We here at Emerald Destin will miss Mary’s Kitchen.
